Asbestos and lead are dangerous substances that require special attention when used, managed, or removed.
As a mineral fiber, asbestos has been commonly used to manufacture products such as building materials (roofing shingles, ceiling/floor tiles, paper products, and certain cement products), automotive friction products, heat-resistant fabrics, packaging, gaskets, and coatings. When these materials become damaged, microscopic fibers are released into the air. These tiny airborne particles may be inhaled, resulting in significant and/or chronic health problems.
When asbestos or lead are suspected or found to be present, abatement services are required. Datom Products has certified asbestos and lead abatement contractors who are experts in the treatment and removal of asbestos and lead-based paint to make the property safe for occupants.
Let the experienced team at Datom Products provide you with excellent lead abatement services. Our non-destructive lead-based paint inspections can detect lead using our X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) Analyzer. This Inspection is highly recommended if any renovation work is being completed or if your paint is chipping, cracking, or in any way damaged as the XRF Analyzer reads all of the layers of paint. Our experts will safely remove, abate, encapsulate, or stabilize lead.
Same day emergency services are available for your convenience. Reach out to us today for more information.
Federal law requires contractors that disturb painted surfaces in homes, childcare facilities and schools built before 1978 to be certified and follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination. Don't forget to ask your contractor for his certification.
Federal law also requires that individuals receive certain information before renovating more than six square feet of painted surfaces in a room for interior projects or more than twenty square feet of painted surfaces for exterior projects or window replacement or demolition in housing, child care facilities and schools built before 1978.
Renovators must give homeowners and tenants a pamphlet entitled “Renovate Right” before starting work.
For child care facilities, including preschools and kindergarten classrooms, and the families of children under six years of age that attend those facilities, renovators must provide a copy of this pamphlet to child care facilities and general renovation information to families whose children attend those facilities.
For do-it-yourselfers, it is highly recommended that they obtain and study the EPA’s brochure, “The Lead-Safe Certified Guide to Renovate Right.”
